The effective English language teacher from the perspective of Ecuadorian university students

Studying EFL teacher effectiveness has been a constant issue in the last decade. These investigations focused on teachers’ and education administrators’ perceptions. Most of them were conducted countries different from Latin America. This research aimed to create profile university students’ perceptions concerning qualities an effective teacher. For doing so, quantitative approach was used involving application Effective English Language Teacher (EELT) questionnaire Roya Zamani & Ahangari (2016) learners public (N=324). The findings revealed that participants value pedagogical knowledge as most relevant dimension above organization communication skills, socio-affective proficiency. According surveyed student population, three main features are being flexible with grading (1.70), having good sense humor (1.65), avoiding direct criticism students when they make errors (1.61). article concludes by outlining some recommendations.
